Dr. Newman has been very helpful, knowledgeable, and concerning of my ongoing knee difficulties, as well as my new problem with a trigger finger. "I have been very pleased with Dr. Lowe and respect his advice." -- Joyce D.
"Absolutely first class! Dr. Lowe is very easy going, takes his time to explain things in layman's language so that you understand, and answers any questions that you may have regarding medication, procedures, etc. We always discuss what options that are available before making a decision about the treatment. He replaced my right hip last fall, and my recovery was quick. Not only have I been dealing with the hip replacement, but I have issues with both of my knees and my left hip as well. A year ago, my pain was so severe that I had difficulty doing anything. Today, I still have some pain, but I am able to function. I can walk, and most important, I am able once again to work. I am truly very thankful for all that Dr. Lowe has done for me! I will never be able to thank him enough for all that he has done to help make my life better." -- Mary S.
"About 4 years ago, Dr. Kouba did surgery on my right knee for a torn meniscus and flushed out my knee. A few months later, I backpacked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. In 2012, I returned and did rim to rim. Dr. Kouba's advice was to switch to low impact workouts by using the adaptive mobility trainers or the stationary bikes at the Health Plex. I was to start doing circuit training and stop running/jogging. I stopped playing basketball too. My wife changed our diet. I lost about 25-30 lbs. and have kept it off. I have substantially improved my range of motion in that same knee. Daily hiking at Yellowstone National Park last month was a breeze. Thanks to Dr. Kouba's expertise, I am doing very well. Thank you so much." -- Carl I.
"I just started my visit with Cape Fear Orthopedics. I find the staff very friendly and show great concern about the patients. I just love Dr. Stephen Kouba, who is treating me. I am beginning to feel results already, after having my first roster shot. I have recommended him to other people." -- Pearl H.
"I was treated timely and with courtesy at Cape Fear Orthopedics and at the ambulatory center. Dr. McFarlane was caring and gave excellent post-op instructions. I have all the confidence in the world in his surgical skills and look forward to being able to walk without pain in a few more weeks. Also, I can't wait to get this darn shoe off."-- Gloria P.
"Being a 74-year-old woman, three-time cancer survivor, with multiple illnesses and aches and pain, I was experiencing pain in my right hip. This occurs every so often and normally prescribed a painkiller. Most of the time I'm not treated with respect but just an OLD Lady with complaints.
Dr. Lowe was just the opposite. He treated me with all the respect, which also helped in my recovery. He gave a shot in my hip. In a few hours, I didn't have pain and it lasted for about six months. On my subsequent visits, I experienced the same respect and true feeling." -- Liane S.
