Bone Density Testing
Osteoporosis occurs when the body loses bone at a rate faster than it is replaced.
To test for osteoporosis, your doctor may order a Bone Density Test.
It is a safe, quick, and painless method to measure your bone mineral density and help determine whether you have or at risk for osteoporosis.
A Bone Density Test is a 10-20 minute scan and you just relax on a cushioned bed while the scanner arm passes over your body.
How To Prepare For Test:
- Before the scan, you can eat and drink normally.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing like sweatpants and a T-shirt, but no metal, (such as zippers, snaps, underwire bras, buckles, or jewelry).
