"While I was filming the hit summer Discovery Channel TV series, "Naked & Afraid: Terror in Tanzania", I reinjured an old Army shoulder injury I had. I was surviving out there for twenty-one days with nothing more than a knife and a partner to aid me. No supplies, no support, no clothes. It was one of the hardest things I had ever attempted to date. Well while I was out there, an old injury to my left shoulder resurfaced. While batoning a tree to make wooden shoes for my partner and I, to make our life a little better, my shoulder started to burn deep inside very badly. We were only halfway through our adventure and I knew that this was going to make it that much tougher. But I made it the twenty-one days and hung tough. When I got back, I immediately saw my doctor, Dr. Gary Garison. He ordered an MRI and quickly recommended me to see the orthopedic doctors of Cape Fear Orthopedics. I found the staff warm, friendly, and very professional. My doctor, Dr. Flanagan, really gave me the comfort and reassurances that I needed to get through my injury. He showed real concern for me as a patient. If I had a question, he fully explained it and answered it to my satisfaction. He always double-checked to make sure I understood what he said or recommended. I also found the physical therapy staff top notch. It didn't matter who worked with me each visit. I felt as if that staff member and I had been working together forever. I absolutely love Cape Fear Orthopedics and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs any orthopedic medical needs. Thanks Cape Fear Orthopedics for everything and helping me get back to my Survival Adventures!"-- EJ S.

"I experienced non-localized pain in my left leg about three years ago, which progressively got worse to the degree that I could not carry out my usual physical activities. My son, a physician, recommended Dr. James P. Flanagan. "I was diagnosed with scoliosis and was treated by Dr. Flanagan (and his entire staff: nurses, office staff and physical therapist} in an extremely professional way. I was impressed with their knowledge, their efficiency, and their friendliness. I was also impressed with the clean, upscale technology, and beautiful facility. Having followed their instructions, I am very, very much improved and satisfied with their care." --Claretta D.

"After a nasty fall and damaging a few ligaments in my knee, I was treated by Dr. Flanagan. His knowledge and confidence turned a scary situation into a very peaceful treatment. I had surgery to reconstruct my ACL and my lateral meniscus repaired. It was done at the Fayetteville Ambulatory Surgical Center and the staff there were nice, friendly, and very caring. I am recuperating as we speak and so far, so good. I am glad that I entrusted Cape Fear Orthopedics for my care." -- Melanie C.

"I came in after a nasty fall where my knee was dislocated out of the socket. After an MRI, it was discovered that I had torn a few ligaments in my knee and would need surgery to reconstruct my ACL. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Flanagan and he seemed very knowledgeable and confident. That eased my anxiety! I had surgery yesterday at the Fayetteville Ambulatory Surgical Center and they were the best staff ever!! So far so good! I am recuperating as we speak and am so glad that I chose Cape Fear Orthopedics for my care." -- Melanie C.

"I fell off a ladder outdoors trying to get my cat down out of a tree. Wrong move I KNOW. I was referred to Dr. Flanagan. Everyone at Cape Fear Orthopedics was simply kind and wonderful to me every time I went. They made my experience hopeful and made me feel like I was part of the process. After several casts and a boot, I was released. I still have a stiff foot, but I’m improving every day. I appreciate their care. Thank you everyone." -- Carol L.
