Dr. James P. Flanagan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in all aspects of orthopedics, including treating injuries and conditions of the ankle, elbow, foot, hip, knee, and shoulder. He also specializes in joint replacement and sports-related injuries.
After graduating with his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University in Ohio, Dr. Flanagan earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. He remained at the same institution and completed his transitional internship and orthopedic surgery residency before joining Cape Fear Orthopedics in 1997.
Outside of his clinical duties, Dr. Flanagan serves at the chief of orthopedic surgery at Cape Fear Valley Health System. He is also a preceptor for the Duke Medical School Residency Program and an associate profressor for the Physician Assistant Program at Methodist University.
As an avid golfer, Dr. Flanagan enjoys playing on the many courses of Fayetteville when he's not seeing patients.
