What You Should Look For In A Physical Therapist

February 28, 2018adminUncategorized

Physical Therapist

Physical therapists (PTs) help people move better and get back to living the pain free life that they want to live. PTs are skilled at effectively diagnosing and treating many musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions. PTs are very well educated and undergo rigorous training. Current training is 7 years of school to complete their terminal degree; Doctor of Physical Therapy. When working as part of the orthopedic rehab team, the PTs are charged with managing the post-operative care under physician supervision.

Just like other professions, all PT services are not created equal. Many providers chose to specialize in one joint or one type of injury while others will take a more general approach to healthcare. Many PTs will seek advanced certifications in order to demonstrate mastery of one discipline or another. Many of the therapists at Cape Fear Orthopedics & Sports Medicine hold these advanced titles in areas such as manual therapy, dry needling, and strength and conditioning.

Great physical therapists are good listeners and work in coordination with their patients and other medical providers to put together a comprehensive plan of care that will fully meet their needs and return them to full function as efficiently as possible. One of the best parts about choosing Cape Fear Orthopedics & Sports Medicine for your PT needs is the direct ease of communication between your MD and the therapy staff. Your PT will evaluate you and then communicate any deficits and the plan of care directly to your MD who will continue to be involved with decision making through the whole process. Our PTs regularly communicate with the medical team in order to deliver the best care possible.

One of the most important aspects of patients being involved in PT is taking an active approach to their care. Their PT should be someone that they trust and feel comfortable with and who gives them honest answers and can readily answer any questions related to their pathology, how it’s being addressed, and long term outcomes. Patients are chiefly responsible for their outcomes through their hard work, but PTs are here to help you maximize those outcomes and make sure you are on schedule throughout the post-operative or rehab process.

At Cape Fear Orthopedics & Sports Medicine , our PT staff pride themselves on delivering excellent physical therapy and results. We have been in operations for over 40 years helping patients get back to living their best life. We have a highly trained and experienced staff ready to help meet your needs and get you back on your feet. At Cape Fear Orthopedics & Sports Medicine , we genuinely care about our patients.
